Bellurgan United progressed to the final of the Kilmessan Shield, knocking out Parkvilla at Flynn Park this morning. Goalkeeper Padraig Gorham was the hero of a penalty shootout after the game finished all square at 2 – 2.
Danny O’Connor scored a goal in each half the second of which leveled the match and sent it into extra time. 30 minutes of additional failed to produce any further goals and the game had to be decided with spot kicks.
Padraig Gorham produced a top class keeping performace in the shoot out, saving the 1st 3 Parkvilla spot kicks. With Bellurgan converting 3 of their kicks, they now progress to the final where they will meet Boyne Harps.
