Bellurgan United u14’s were knocked out at the last 32 stage of the National Cup by Midleton FC today in Knockgriffen Park, Midleton.
Midleton FC started the stronger of the two teams and went 2 nil up after 20 minutes with the 1st goal in particularly excellent individual strike.
Bellurgan started the 2nd half much better and brought the game to Midleton, it is a cliché but at this stage the next goal was going to be vital. It was Midleton who got the important score. Adding another soon afterwards with their tall centre half heading home from a corner.
Bellurgan battled to the very end and never dropped their heads, unfortunately they came up against a very strong and excellent home side. An enjoyable game despite the result in excellent Midleton facilities. The silver lining being the team can still look forward to their North Leinster Final next week against Balbriggan.
A special note of thanks to the Bellurgan coaches for the top notch organistion of the trip to Cork,, it was a great couple of days for everyone involved the lads represented the club really well. Also extra thanks to our hosts Midleton FC. Both teams were given a local guard of honour on to the pitch, refreshments served for the parents and travelling support after the match and special pizza delivery for our players, in reserved seating!!, in the clubhouse after the match. A really nice touch by Middleton FC and really appreciated by everyone who was there, well done and good luck in the last 16.
